About Us

The local North Fulton chapter of Music Teachers Association was founded a little over ten years ago and currently has about 75 members. It is a part of the National Music Teachers Association and most members are independent music teachers with private studios. The group meets monthly for informative educational programs and social events. NFMTA sponsors scholarships, competitions, music festivals, and the annual "Celebrate with Music" event to be held at the North Point Mall this year in December.

The North Fulton Chapter of Music Teachers also provides a referral service for students looking for qualified music teachers of piano, voice, and other instruments. Individuals wanting to use the referral service can email Michele Farrow at michele.farrow12@gmail.com for suggestions.

The mission of the Music Teachers National Association is to advance the value of music study and music making in society and to support the porfessionalism of music teachers. The mission is accomplished by members who teach with competence, act with integrity, and volunteer services to MTNA programs, provide professional support for colleagues and communities, and comply with all laws and regulations that impact the music teaching profession. MTNA's mission also calls for an ethical commitment to students, to colleagues, and to the community.

Music Teachers interested in joining the group can email VP Membership, Lydia Culpepper, Lydia.culpepper@comcast.net for more information.
