Message from the President
Dear Members,
September is here and we are getting ready for some wonderful music making this
season. I invite you to come to the program and learn "What makes a singer, a
singer! The sounds and function of the most difficult instrument of all".
Your participation is greatly appreciated and I hope you will find this program
both educational and entertaining. Be prepared to make sounds (if you want to)
and to hear samples of different songs and styles that uses some of the colors
of the voice. We will also spend time to go over the Fall Festival and
Celebrate with Music.
Also, it is with great pleasure that I can announce that we will have our 2nd
Teacher Fundraiser Concert on October 3rd at 6:30 p.m. We have
been given a great opportunity this year with the generous donation of space
from Alpharetta Presbyterian Church. All we need from you know is your support
in promoting the concert to your students and their parents, to put some
postcards at your local place of worship, your hairdresser, your pet
groomer.... well you get the idea. The postcards will be available to you at
our next meeting on September 8th. I am glad to say that I have received a few
names of people that are interested in performing, but there is still space for
more and although it's just a little more than a month away, please brush up
one of your favorite pieces that you can share with the audience and let us
enjoy your playing. It doesn't have to be the most difficult thing you have
ever done, just gorgeous music or funny, for that matter. Please contact me to
confirm your participation and what piece you will be playing, singing or
otherwise performing. At this point each performer is limited to about 5
minutes of music, but that can be extended depending on the amount of
performers that sign up. This can become a great opportunity for us to reach
out to the community and expand music into more people's lives. Come join us in
what will be a grand event. The concert should run between 6:30-8:30 p.m.,
including an intermission. The price is $10 for adults and $5 for students.
I am also extending an invitation for the Catherine Rollin Workshop on
September 17, 2009. See full information below!
See you the 8th,
Maria

Fall Festival

Please remember that our September 8 NFMTA meeting is the application
deadline for Fall Festival. Guidelines are in the orange section of the NFMTA
Handbook, and also online at www.nfmta.com. The
one-page application form and your check are all that we need! Students of all
ages and levels, including adults, are welcome to enter.

to enter their students in Festival. If you need to pay your dues, you can do
